CONFLUENT | Data Streaming Tournament

Confluent Chronicles is an immersive storytelling project developed by Bully! Entertainment for Confluent. The project reimagines technical sales enablement through an anime-inspired universe, combining graphic novels, motion comics, and a mixed-reality game to transform complex data infrastructure concepts into an engaging interactive experience.
My primary responsibility was designing and creating the game's main antagonist, Dataclysm, a colossal anthropomorphic creature that physically embodies data bottlenecks within the world of Confluent Chronicles. Streams of data flow directly through the character, making its design both a narrative centerpiece and a visual representation of the technical challenges the player must overcome.

Creating Dataclysm required balancing an intimidating, larger-than-life silhouette with a design that clearly communicated its role within the story. The character needed to feel powerful and memorable while visually expressing abstract concepts such as data flow, congestion, and system bottlenecks through its anatomy and animation.
This project was a unique opportunity to combine stylized character design with technical storytelling, demonstrating how complex engineering concepts can be communicated through compelling visual design and interactive experiences.
